A rise in car break-ins in Manningham, Victoria has prompted police to warn motorists to look and lock before leaving their cars.
Since the start of July last year, 165 cars have been broken into in Manningham, a rise of 23 per cent compared to the same period in 2010.

Doncaster detective Sgt Doug Beare said thieves took advantage of the warmer weather, and people leaving car windows open, targeting car parks at parks and swimming spots.

Sgt Beare suggested if people had to bring valuables, to leave them in the vehicle’s boot.

“Also don’t give [thieves] any more reason to choose your car, park in well-lit areas and near other cars.”
