The Competition Commission gave the go-ahead this week to the merger of Greece’s second and third largest lenders, Eurobank EFG and Alpha Bank, by unanimously approving the creation of Greece’s biggest bank, to be called Alpha Eurobank.
The decision paves the way for the application of the merger decision and the adjustment of their capital strengthening plan.
