Greek youth international, Kostas Manolas has decided to stay with cash strapped AEK Athens, despite an offer to join English Premier League club Everton.
An apparent change of heart by Manolas ended Everton manager David Moyes’s hopes of landing the young Greek defender in a AUD$738,000 deal on the final day of the transfer deadline. The 20 year-old looked set to complete his transfer from AEK Athens, but it’s believed he was unable to agree personal terms and the deal collapsed.
A statement from AEK president Stavros Adamidis provided confirmation: “Manolas is staying. We had told the player that if he and Everton agreed terms we wouldn’t stand between them. It didn’t happen.”
