Lexus was recently forced to review a marketing teaser campaign for its new concept sports coupe after pirate images of the car leaked onto the internet.
The company initially released a single image of the LF-LC sports car concept a few weeks ago after US websites began displaying a low resolution image of the car taken from an iPad video and reprinted inside Road & Track magazine. The car was to have been unveiled at the Detroit motor show this month and Lexus was running a strategic marketing campaign in the lead-up to the event.
The media was forwarded a few images designed to foreshadow pre-publicity for the car. If the 2 plus 2 Lexus coupe goes into production it will be touted as a potential replacement for the recently out of production SC430 coupe which was primarily designed to rival BMW’s 6-Series coupe and the Mercedes-Benz SL. Designed at Lexus’ Californian studio, the LF-LC concept showcases Lexus’ new design direction filling the gap in the marque line-up between the ultra expensive LFA and the US$130,000 ISF sports sedan.
The futuristic LF-LC sport coupe reveals a wide and deep HSV-style front grille with the overall design similar to the LF-Gh hybrid concept car from last year’s Melbourne motor show.
