A scholarship in memory of the late director and screenwriter Anna Kannava has been set up by Deakin University, Burwood Campus. Ms Kannava was a successful Australian filmmaker who passed away from cancer on May 5 2011.

To apply for the scholarship, you must be: an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of an Australian humanitarian visa; female; not born in Australia; enrolling in, or currently enrolled in the: Bachelor of Film and Digital Media, Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts); and be able to demonstrate a social or economic disadvantage.

The scholarship is available for one year and the student can receive a cash payment of $1,000 for the year. Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information you provide in your application and supporting documentation. Applicants will be required to supply the following documentation once your on-line application has been submitted: a copy of your academic progression to date/or Year 12 results; two personal references (written); documentation in support of your disadvantage. Examples of possible documents you could provide are: Centrelink statement, medical certificates, counsellor letters, police reports, statement of support written by someone not related to you that can confirm the information you provided in your statement.
