George Frazis is to take over as chief of St George Bank after Rob Chapman decided to step down, after only 18 months in the position. A former senior banker for NAB, Mr Frazer has been in New Zealand running the Westpac unit for three-and-a-half years, and last year, was responsible for the 41 per cent hike in cash earnings for the unit.
“I am confident George’s drive, energy and passion for developing high-performing teams and deep customer relationships will be a great asset to the St George Banking Group,” Gail Kelly, chief executive of Westpac, said after she appointed Frazis in this job following Chapman’s departure.
Mr Chapman will return to South Australia to take his post on the BankSA advisory board.
