Greater Western Sydney Giants will debut against the Sydney Swans in this first game stand-alone 2012 Premiership season opener played tomorrow night at Sydney’s ANZ ‘Olympic’ Stadium.
In the first of many local derbies, I would envisage that the Swans will not have it all their way as the Giants coached by Kevin Sheedy will be out there to play hard football. Boasting a team that snatched most of the top ten AFL draft picks and recruited some crafty old players including Luke Power, Chad Cornes, James Mc Donald and Setanta O’Halpin, may make it difficult for the Swans to play their game.
As much as the Giants fancy themselves a minor chance to upset the Swans, it’s not going to happen this time around.
The Swans through, Adam Goodes, Shane Mumford, Jude Bolton, Lewis Roberts-Thompson, Ryan O’Keefe, Jarrad McVeigh and Nick Malceski will be a class above their opponents and should easily record a massive win.
