Olympiakos coach Ernesto Valverde has announced that he will be leaving the team at the end of this season.
Valverde, 48, has guided the team since 2008, during which time he lead the team into victory during his debut season.

However, the club sacked him briefly in January 2010 following a massive loss that left Olympiakos standing in tenth place in the league. Valverde returned in August that same year, leading the team to the Super League championship in 2011 and 2012.

The Spaniard explained that he was leaving the club mainly due to personal reasons, which he did not specify. He said “three years is a very long time in football” and that being in “a team that always wanted to win… can be very exhausting for someone”.
Club President Evangelos Marinakis admits Valverde will be missed by the club and that he hopes Valverde will lead the team to one last victory at the Greek Cup.
