Over 20 talented Greek Australian tennis players took part in the 3rd Hellenic Tennis Open – hosted by the Pancretan Association of Melbourne together with the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria at the newly surfaced courts of the Pancretan Tennis Club.
The players went to battle on the courts giving spectators the opportunity to witness some great tennis.
The men’s final was a titanic effort with the three set battle between Stephen Fotakis and Christos Messiakaris seeing Stephen win 6 – 2 , 4 – 6, 6 – 1. The women’s final was also a tight battle with Stacey Kyriakopoulos proving to strong for Gracie Primikilidis with a 2 set win 6 – 0 , 6 – 3.
The final presentation ceremony was held at the Members’ Pavilion in the Cretan Village with over 100 people attending.
The Pancretan Association of Melbourne President, Tony Tsourdalakis, presented both female and male runner ups with their medals and their $500 prize.
Kevin Kazantzis, Dandenong Branch Manager, Bank of Cyprus, awarded the female winner Stacey Kyriakopoulos with her medal and her $1000 prize sponsored by the Bank of Cyprus Australia.
Finally the men’s $1000 prize was presented to Stephen Fotakis by Bill Papastergiadis, President of the Greek Community of Melbourne. All other participants were presented with their commendation medals.

All the games were officiated by the official umpires from Tennis Victoria, and Wilson was the official ball sponsor. Other sponsors included Conway Fish Trading, Global Printing Australia, ERT World, 3XY and Neos Kosmos.
