Alpha Children’s Centre is an early learning centre operating with an Integrated Kindergarten Program as part of the Australian Greek Welfare Society.
The centre offers an extensive range of programs for children aged from six months to five-years-old, which include literacy, numeracy and life cycle awareness – such as butterflies, chicken hatchings and rabbit rearing.
The strong multicultural program includes awareness of Australian Indigenous culture and also features the various nationalities of the children attending the centre. There is also a dance program that has components of Greek dance, ‘kinda’ dance and mime.
The cook at the centre – who has been working there for over 35 years – creates nutritious meals daily for the children, offering breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and a snack.
The centre also offers a range of incursion programs like Australian Animals, Sea-life, Puppet Shows and Responsible Pet Care. Recently, the children had the opportunity to interact with goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, ferrets, rabbits and a calf. They had fun as they mimicked the animal sounds and thoroughly enjoyed feeding and holding the animals.
Alpha Children’s Centre is committed to the delivery of a High Quality Educational Program in the Early Years in preparing the children for Primary School. With the implementation of the New National Quality Frameworks for Early Childhood, the Staff at Alpha provide a variety of opportunities to ensure the children’s education reflects the outcomes of the Early Years Learning Frameworks.
