The A21 Campaign against human trafficking reported on Wednesday that in the two months that its 1109 hotline has been in operation, it has received over 100 reports of abuse, among which several involved minors being sexually molested.

The head of the Greek department of the California-based nongovernmental organization, Maria Stamati, added that it is estimated that there are some 40,000 women and children in Greece, aged 12-25, who are victims of sexual exploitation.

She also said that less than 10 percent of people charged with sexual exploitation are eventually convicted.
