Archie Thompson has warned Melbourne Victory fans not to expect coach Ange Postecoglou to guide Victory to an A-League title in his first season as coach.
Postecoglou is already being hailed as the Messiah among Victory fans, and they are expecting the same back-to-back championships that Brisbane Roar had under his direction.
Thompson predicted it would still take time for the club to return to the summit.
“Ange has had so much success in Brisbane but Rome wasn’t built in one day,” Thompson told Herald Sun.
“We all want to win championships but I hope people don’t expect us to be challenging straight away.
“There’s always going to have to be little things that are going to be tinkered with.
“I’ve seen the football Brisbane have played. I’ve seen the success Brisbane have had. I’m getting to the twilight of my career and I want to be winning championships, and I think with Ange it’s a good opportunity.”
