A survey send-out bungle led to Greek tenants of Victoria’s public housing system receiving feedback forms in Chinese.
Ted Baillieu’s government announced plans to make changes to the public housing system, however all feedback surveys were in English, which is like to alienate tenants from non-English-speaking backgrounds, including Greeks. Even those with basic understanding of English could have trouble with the obtusely worded questions such as, ‘How can good tenant behaviour and mutual obligation be incentivised?’
A fact sheet has been handed out following the release of the surveys, this time including nine community languages. However, in another embarrassing bungle, Greek public housing residents found that they had been sent fact sheets in Chinese.
