Greek Australian Composer Elias Constantopedos will be composing the soundscape to Birwyant, a multi-platform dance performance.
Presented by the Malthouse Theatre, the soundscape will “transport audiences well beyond the confines of the theatre and into the realm of literal and figurative stories”.
The inspiration of the show comes from the aboriginal painting, Bir’yun, which describes the brilliance and shimmer of a pattern. The intricate choreography will involve projections and Constantopedos’ textured soundscape.
Director and choreographer Vicki Van Hout is an indigenous dancer who moved to New York to peruse her studies and career. She moved back to Australia in the mid ’90s and began to perform with Bangarra Dance Theatre.
Briwyant will be at the Meryn Theatre from July 4 to July 14 and tickets are from $28. To book visit http://www.malthousetheatre.com.au/show-listing/briwyant/
