Intrepid explorers and adventurers James Castrission and his friend Justin Jones – known as Cas and Jonesy – will travel around Australia speaking about their world first 2270km unsupported journey to the South Pole and back.
On Australia Day, Thursday 26 January 2012, Cas and Jonesy created history by becoming the first and youngest pair to travel the 2,270km journey from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back, totally unsupported. After 89 days of pushing the very limits of mental and physical pain in one of the planet’s most unpredictable and harshest landscapes, Cas and Jonesy completed their trek just in time for the last flight out of Antarctica for the season. Suffering from severe sleep and food deprivation the boys experienced hallucinations, continuous fatigue and painful injuries.
The tour will see them visit each capital city during August for one night only to entertain interested participants with their adventure story. Their book Extreme South will be made available on July 31 and fans will be able to purchase a copy on the night and also of their DVD Crossing the Ice – the doco. Participants will also be able to get their book and DVD signed by the two adventurers.
