McDonald’s Australia announced it will promote youth jobs growth by announcing 3000 new jobs around the nation at the McDonald’s Youth Employment Forum in Melbourne.
Queensland will be given the largest share of opportunities, with 1000 jobs to be rolled out, while Victoria will receive 700 jobs, in a bid to boost youth employment. The fast food chain currently employs 90,000 people around the country, and the new positions are expected to be filled by the end of the year.
Minister for Employment Richard Dalla-Riva and Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith were present at the forum and welcomed the fast food chain’s actions regarding youth employment.
“As one of Australia’s largest employers of young people, McDonald’s announcement of 3000 new jobs across the country will have a significant impact on youth employment, particularly in Victoria,” Mr Dalla-Riva said.
Community leaders present at the forum participated in a range of panel sessions to discuss employment opportunities and challenges facing young Victorians, taking into account their needs to balance study with part-time work, training opportunities and skills and career development.
Mr Dalla-Riva and Mr Smith commended the forum’s goals and encouraged giving assistance to young people not undergoing formal education and training by developing the skills and connections they need to find employment and enable them to play an active role in the local economy and communities.
