The Australian Boomers went down to the United States 119-86 in an exhilarating quarter-final match in the London 2012 Olympics.
Even though they are leaving the UK without a medal, their determination and spirit has catapulted them to the best team in the world status.
At half-time, the Boomers came within three points of the US team but a scoring blitz led by superstar Kobe Bryant ensured the gold-medal favourites would win comfortably. After the match, the US team sung the praises of the Australian team and their gallant efforts.
