Olympiakos got a rather favorable draw for the Champions League group stage on Thursday in Monaco. The Greek champion will face Arsenal, Schalke and Montpellier.
The Reds have avoided such giants as Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and holder Chelsea, to stand a decent chance of qualifying to the knockout stages.
Although the Piraeus team is not the favorite for a top-two finish, it can at least hope for a set of competitive games that could see it at least challenge for the third spot that leads to the Europa League if it makes the most of its home games.
The group stage begins on September 18-19, while the final will take place on May 25 in London’s Wembley Stadium.
