A lecture on challenge of climate change entitled Who’s Afraid of Climate Change? will be presented by Dr Nick Dallas PhD (Chemistry), BA, B.Com (UniMelb) on Thursday 6 September at the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria at 6:45 pm.
Climate change is looming as the greatest challenge facing humanity this century. A few years ago when Australia lost its pariah status by signing the Kyoto Protocol, there appeared to be considerable goodwill by the Australian public on the need for action. This goodwill has dissipated significantly as witnessed by the public opinion backlash before the introduction of carbon tax legislation, global uncertainties and cost of living pressures have unnerved citizens as other concerns take priority. An overview of the climate change challenge will be presented where risks, uncertainties and possible solution pathways will be outlined and assessed.
