A series of workshops have been organised in Greek for residents to understand how they can save water and reduce waste at home.
The first workshop will focus on how to reduce your water bill and save water. This includes repairing leaks, choosing water efficient appliances and installing water efficient fixtures.
Learn more about what goes down the drain, how rubbish and storm water enter local waterways, and how to manage storm water on your property. Attendees will also hear more about various Council projects that aim to improve the water quality of the Cooks River.
Other information available at the workshops include the rebates available for residents installing a rainwater tank, and how to use water sensitive urban design elements like green walls, rain gardens and porous paving.
In the second workshop, residents can learn how to reduce household waste, and all about the various services provided by Council, such as free clean up services, mattress collections, and phone, battery, cartridge and cork drop-offs. Council also holds free e-waste and chemical clean out days four times a year.
The first workshop in Greek will take place on Thursday 13 September and the second on Thursday 27 September.
All workshops are free and will be held at Marrickville Library corner Marrickville and Petersham Roads Marrickville. Bookings are not required. Morning tea will also be provided. For more information call Marrickville Library on (02) 9335 2173.
