Crime Stoppers celebrated 25 years of working with the Victorian community to combat crime, last week. Victorians have made well over half a million calls providing confidential information to help solve and stop crimes.

This has resulted in almost 14,000 arrests, nearly 60,000 criminal charges being laid and more than $150 million worth of stolen property and illicit drugs seized, all achieved through the public making calls to Crime Stoppers, or in more recent years, by reporting on line.

“We could not have achieved such significant results without the unwavering support of the media” said CEO of Crime Stoppers, Sam Hunter.

“The success of Crime Stoppers hinges on the collaboration between the community, the media and Crime Stoppers. As a community we should be immensely proud of our achievement”.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to adopt new technologies and working with our every growing group of multi lingual news agencies to help people to say something wherever they are, whenever they see something. Now they can report online, download the STOP CRIME app and report on their phone and of course, they can still call us.” I
