World famous Pontian lyra player Panagiotis Aslanidis will be in Australia for two unforgettable shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
At the age of thirteen Aslanidis started playing the lyra alongside the patriarch of the lyra Gogo Petridis, and also the great artistic talent of Pontian musician Yianni Vlastaridis.
Aslanidis is known for his unique technique and playing style and has played at many festivals, dances and events not only in Greece but around the world. Young lyra players look up to him as the father of the lyra.
Having the nature of an explosive temper while playing the lyra, Panagiotis Aslanidis gave the lyra a rhythmic pulse stronger than anyone else’s playing. The famous dance of Pontos the Serra when played by Aslanidis is known to be the best sound the lyra can make.
The much awaited artist will be welcomed by great numbers of first, second and third generation Pontian Greeks.
