Passenger traffic at the four main cruise ports in Greece was very satisfactory last year, data from the Technical Committee for Cruise Tourism of the Port Association of Greece showed.

A total of 2,295,711 passengers cruised the Greek seas in 2012, including 440,098 who embarked and disembarked at the same port (home porting).

Almost three-quarters of them (74 percent) used Piraeus as their home port, 15 percent chose Corfu, 11 percent opted for Iraklio and 2 percent for Lavrio.

Transit cruise passengers numbered 2,485,613.
