Helen Kapalos made her debut in a revamped Today Tonight on Channel Seven last night. As the program’s new host, the show will broadcast out of Melbourne to both the Victorian capital and Sydney.
Today Tonight goes to air after huge speculation in recent weeks that Seven would axe the program in favour of an extended hour-long news bulletin – a decision Seven’s executive’s finally dumped in favour of honouring their original offer to the former Ten Network newsreader.
Kapalos’ much anticipated re-appearance on screen will bring a dramatic episode in her professional life full-circle, having been unceremoniously axed by Channel Ten last November.
Her return to broadcast news has been heralded with a spate of prime time promos, proclaiming her affinity with Melbourne under the banner “Melbourne’s voice just got stronger”.
Today Tonight with Helen Kapalos at the helm will go to air for the first time at 6:30 pm this week.
