There were no upsets in the return legs of the Greek Cup quarterfinals, but Panthrakikos made history as it reached the semis of the competition for the first time.
The side from Komotini scored a second 1-0 win over Veria, this time at home, thanks to a goal by Achilleas Sarakatsanos, for a 2-0 aggregate score.
Panthrakikos will play holder Olympiakos in the semifinals on April 18 and 28, as the Reds strolled at home to a 2-0 win over PAS
Giannina. Yiannis Maniatis and Djamel Abdoun scored for Olympiakos who had also won 1-0 at Ioannina.
Olympiakos is 16 points ahead of second placed Asteras Tripolis, meaning the team has mathematically won the title. They don’t even have to turn up to their next games.
Asteras Tripolis set up a semifinal clash with PAOK, beating Platanias 3-1 at home this week. Leading Asteras to its third semifinal in five years were the goals by Fernando Usero, Pablo De Blasis and Christos Kalantzis. Igor Mirceta had equalized for Platanias, who has also lost 2-1 at home.
