More than 120 young leaders from diverse faith, ethnic and political communities, gathered last week at the unique Passover dinner held at the University of NSW, in Sydney.

Organised by the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, the objective of the dinner was to foster understanding and bridge-building between the various communities.

The event follows numerous Passover dinners held by the Board of Deputies, including dinners with the education, trade union, NGO, academic and interfaith sectors.

Minister for Citizenship and Communities, and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Affairs of NSW, Victor Dominello, gave the opening address, with many distinguished guests from diverse communities supporting the event with their presence.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and the Australian Hellenic Council (NSW) were represented at the event, together with many other religious, ethnic and political associations and various university students’ associations.

“Passover is the festival of freedom, and we will be celebrating the freedom which we enjoy as Australians who respect diversity and the dignity of difference,” chief executive officer Vic Alhadeff said.
