George Misalis, of South Morang was charged with the murder of a 59-year-old woman – believed to be his wife – at their home last week.
Mr Misalis was found with serious injuries after police found the dead woman’s body. He was flown to The Alfred hospital, where he was under a police guard.
Neighbour Attila Fogas, 50, told Fairfax Media he heard a man’s voice screaming ”What have you done? What’s going on?” before police found the body.
Mr Misalis has been remanded to appear in court at a later date.
