The Alpha Children’s Centre, a program of the Australian Greek Welfare Society, is this year celebrating 40 years of service to the community.
The centre is an Early Learning Centre operating with an Integrated Kindergarten Program that offers an extensive range of programs including literacy, numeracy, and life cycle awareness.
The centre also has a large multicultural program to teach the children awareness of the different nationalities attending the centre, as well as Aboriginal culture. The dance program also includes Greek dance.
Recently, the children engaged in making masks and kites to celebrate apokries, which is the beginning of the Lent period and forty days before the Greek Orthodox Easter.
The children also participated in activities celebrating the Chinese New Year.
For more information on the various programs including the Greek Bilingual and Multicultural programs delivered at Alpha contact Kelly Ioannou on (03) 94291488.
