Labour member for Calwell Maria Vamvakinou has vowed to impede the establishment of Australian branches of fascist political Party Golden Dawn.
During her brief visit to Greece Ms Vamakinou experienced audacious attempts by parliamentarians and members of Golden Dawn to politically exploit the most compassionate human deed, the donation of blood.
“Much to my horror these guys use this humane gesture of blood donation to make a political statement,” she told Neos Kosmos.
“Their demand that the blood their members donate to Greece’s blood banks should only be made available to Greek citizens shocked me. These people must not be allowed to enter Australia and I will do everything in my power to impede their entrance to our democratic country symbol of multiculturalism and shining example of harmonious co-existence of people of different ethnic, religious and cultural background” she said.
Ms Vamvakinou explained that she came face to face with these extremists, while her sister was at the General Hospital of Sparta, for a blood test she could not have because Golden Dawn members had blocked parts of the hospital.
