Seniors of ethnic groups will soon receive $233,000 in Victorian government funding to help encourage participation in activities and remain active, announced Minister for Health and Ageing, David Davis.
More than 50 groups and agencies around Victoria will also receive grants from the participation for culturally and linguistic diverse seniors.
These grants will not only promote activity amongst the elderly community of Victoria, but increase support for isolated seniors from CALD backgrounds.
“Australian Institute for Health & Welfare data shows nearly a third of all Victorians aged over 65 are from a CALD background, “said Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Nicholas Kotsiras.
Mr Kotsiras said that he was contented to see that these grants had been spread among over 25 different ethnic groups.
