All Stars coach Ange Postecoglou says Manchester United will be out to prove a point in their match against the A-League All Stars at ANZ Stadium on 20 July.
The players will be desperate to make a good impression on their new manager, David Moyes and has no doubt that they will be under enormous pressure.
“They’ll be looking for differences in the way he does things. For the Manchester United players, they’ll be trying to prove to their new manager that they can play,” he said.
The match will be Moyes first as manager, who took up the position after Manchester United icon Alex Ferguson retired.
“There’s going to be intense scrutiny around him but I guess that makes it even better for us – the whole world will be watching and there’s an opportunity for us to show what we can do,” Postecoglou said.
This week the All Stars’ unvailled their jersery and the team’s first three confirmed starters – Brett Emerton, Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Thomas Broich.
The match is already a sell-out and comes four days before Victory takes on another EPL giant, Liverpool, at the MCG.
“It’s going to be a pretty surreal week for me, playing two of the biggest clubs in the world,” Postecoglou said.
“It’ll probably be something that I can reflect on for the rest of my life.”
