The Myrmigi, or ‘Ant,’ community center in the central Athens suburb of Kypseli, was firebombed early Friday, when two men on a motorcycle emptied flammable liquid at the entrance and set it on fire.
The arson attack comes just a few days after 80 to 100 suspected supporters of far-right Golden Dawn attacked a similar center in the suburb of Ilioupoli, at a time when youngsters were reportedly having an English lesson.
The Myrmigi community center supports hundreds of families in need. It is situated in a neighbourhood of central Athens with extremely high unemployment rate amongst both Greeks and immigrants.
