Late this week, basketball team from Catalonia Barcelona Regal made an offer for Olympiakos forward Kostas Papanikolaou.
It has been reported that Papanikolaou asked Olympiakos for a three-year 5.7 million euros contract, but the club didn’t agree. Barcelona offered him a three-year 2.1 million euros contract.
Papanikolaou was expected to give the final answer to Barcelona before Friday evening, European time.
According to sources close to the Greek team, Atlanta Hawks have also offered Papanikolaou a contract to go immediately into NBA. It has been speculated that the offer from Atlanta Hawks for Papanikolaou was US$4.5 million plus an immediate US$500,000 buyout for Olympiakos.
The Papanikolaou brawl continued on Friday, with CSKA Moscow intruding with an offer of a three-year deal of 4.2 million euros, but no buyout for Olympiakos.
Papanikolaou’s new club has not been revealed yet.
