An association of Greek Australian taxi owners was recently formed in Melbourne as a result of the Napthine State Government decision to adopt the ‘Fels review’.
In an industry where Greek licence holders constitute approximately 25 per cent of the entire taxi owners’ population in the state of Victoria, the outcome of the Fels reforms are expected to impact on future investment prospects and incomes of the very people who up until now were serving the needs of the commuters in Melbourne and in the state of Victoria.
Speaking to Neos Kosmos, the association stated that their main objective is to empower members so that they can face collectively all the challenges brought in by the adoption of the Fels reforms.
Greek Australian taxi owners also expressed their willingness to work closely with other migrant taxi licence holders and form a bigger collective.
