Australia will get a preview of the 2014 World Cup when the team takes on hosts Brazil in a friendly on September 7 in Brasilia.

Coach Holger Osieck hopes the match will be a learning experience for his young side.

“With less than twelve months to go to the World Cup this match is a great opportunity for us to get an impression of the environment we will face,” said Osieck in a Football Federation Australia (FFA) statement.

“Brazil is one of the top teams in the world and a great challenge for us as we prepare ourselves for the World Cup.

“This match will be a valuable learning experience for us both on and off the field.”

The match, to be played at the Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brazil’s capital, will be the seventh between world number nine Brazil and world
number 40 Australia at senior men’s international level.

The teams last met in the group phase of the 2006 FIFA World Cup where Brazil won 2-0.
