Australians making the trip to Brazil next year for the 2014 FIFA World Cup can start buying their tickets to opening games. The first phase of ticketing went on sale this week and will be available at the FIFA website with prices starting at $US90 ($A97.66). Tickets for the final are going for around $US440 ($A477.43).

Fans have until October 10 to get their application in for the first phase of ticketing. If demand is as expected, then applicants in the first phase will be entered into a random selection draw that will determine if their application was successful.

A second phase will open on November 5 and tickets will be released on a first-come first-served basis.

The draw for the World Cup will take place on December 6 in Bahia, Brazil, which will then be followed by a third phase of ticketing beginning on December 8.
