A Victorian Parliamentary delegation – lead by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Ken Smith and the President of the Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson – has left for a visit to Greece responding to an invitation by the President of the Hellenic Republic Evangelos Meimarakis and the Minister for Macedonia and Thrace Theodoros Karaoglou .

The aim of the visit is to advance the significant historic, cultural and economic links that exist between Victoria and Greece, as a result of the large Greek Australian community that resides in the state.

The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the President of the Legislative Council of Victoria are leading a delegation that includes MP’s from the Liberal, Labor and National parties. Namely, Mr Khalil Eiden MLC, Mr Damian Drum MLC, Mr Joe Helper MLA, Ms Cindy McLeish MLA, and the Clerk of the Legislative Council Mr Wayne Tunnecliffe.

The Victorian Parliamentary Delegation will give particular emphasis on this trip on building Victorian Participation in the Thessaloniki International Fair that started Saturday.
