Cypriot team APOEL has been given a second fighting chance in the Europa League after it was drawn to replace Fenerbahçe SK following the Turkish club’s exclusion from the 2013/14 UEFA club competitions.
The club was beaten 3-2 on aggregate by Belgian side SV Zulte Waregem last week, but now enter Group F, alongside Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt, France’s FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Israel’s Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC.
In Group J, fellow compatriots Apollon Limassol FC take on Polish team Legia Warszawa, Turkey’s Trabzonspor AŞ and Italian greats S.S. Lazio, while Greek team PAOK have been drawn into Group L. They take on Danish club AZ, Kazakstan’s FC Shakhter Karagandy and Israel’s Maccabi Haifa FC.
Matches begin on September 19, and go through till mid-December.
