The end-of-season V8 Supercars event in Sydney is set to remain at Homebush for the next three years and possibly become a series of twilight races to attract a larger track attendance and TV audience.
The traditional final round of the championship, the Sydney 500 is run on the tight street circuit around the Homebush Olympic in December each year. The new deal will secure the event until 2016. V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton announced the deal last week, which is reportedly worth $12 million to V8 Supercars and an estimated $50 million to the NSW economy.
Ford, Holden, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz will this year compete around the street circuit at the former Olympic precinct between December 6-8.
