Bank of Beirut’s chairman and general manager Salim Sfeir – accompanied by the Bank of Sydney directors Fouad Chaker and Elias Alouf – visited Australia for two weeks to attend the quarterly board meeting of the Bank of Sydney. They also meet with high value customers, the local management and staff of the bank.
Bank of Beirut is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, while the local subsidiary, recently rebranded to Bank of Sydney, has a 12 year total presence in Australia, with branches in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and distribution channels Australia wide.
Salim Sfeir and executives of Bank of Beirut are visiting Australia regularly in order to support the local operations and a visit to Melbourne is on their program.
During meetings with the bank’s local management, staff and Greek customers in Melbourne, Mr Salim Sfeir reiterated that Bank of Sydney will never forget its Hellenic foundations and will always support the Hellenes in Australia in their personal, business and community endeavours.
During their visit in Melbourne, Mr Sfeir and Mr Chaker were accompanied by the chairman of the board of directors of the Bank of Sydney Dr Nicholas Pappas AM, the CEO of the Bank of Sydney Julie Elliot and other executives and senior managers.
At the Board meeting held in Sydney during Mr Sfeir’s visit, the shareholder and local board, chaired by Dr Pappas and including Steve Bracks AC among notable others, were very pleased to see Bank of Sydney moving from strength to strength. At the board meeting, several new projects were discussed which will further improve the bank’s strong presence in the Australian market.
