Collingwood have secured Greek Australian utility player Patrick Karnezis in an AFL trade that sent forward Jackson Paine to Brisbane on the very last day of the trade period.
The 21-year-old recruit has been a long time Collingwood fan, and was a part of the Buckley Brigade, and says it’s a dream come true to be wearing the black and white jersey as an adult.
The Lions also confirmed that ruckman Billy Longer, who played four games this season for a total of nine, went to St Kilda, with Brisbane giving up draft pick No. 48 for selections 25 and 41.
All five players who wanted to leave the Lions have secured new homes. Deals confirmed mean Sam Docherty headed to Carlton, while Elliot Yeo is now at West Coast and Port Adelaide secured a deal for Jared Polec. Karnezis has played 21 games for the Lions, including three this season.
