Greater Dandenong’s Greek community exceeded all expectations, when their fundraiser cocktail party at the St Panteleimon Church Hall on Melbourne Cup Eve raised $63,000 for cancer research.
Members of the Greek community joined the Cocktail for a Cure party to honour family members or friends who have lost their battle with cancer, in order to support the fighters and survivors, by raising much-needed funds for a worthy cause. The more than 550 attendees who participated at the cancer fundraiser exceeded the expectations of the organisers, whose aim was to raise $50,000.
One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and the other two will know someone who is diagnosed with cancer.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a hospital dedicated to caring for and treating patients with a wide range of cancers.
