The Ambassador of Australia to Greece Ms Jenny Bloomfield, alongside the Australian Archaeological Institute of Athens director Alexandros Cambitoglou, held a reception at the ambassador’s residence to honour the 17 foreign archaeological institutes in Athens.
Ms Jenny Bloomfield congratulated the presidents of the foreign archaeological institutes in Greece for their significant work in promoting the Greek history and cultural heritage around the world. She made a special mention to the contribution of Professor Cambitoglou and to the outstanding work of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens (AAIA), as well as the promotion of Greek studies in Australia.
Present at the reception were presidents and representatives of the 17 institutes, former Minister of Culture Tatiana Karapanagioti and representatives of the Greece Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Athens hosts 17 Foreign Archaeological Institutes which promote and facilitate research by scholars from their home countries.
