Perth Glory announced this week the club is parting ways with head coach Alistair Edwards who will no longer coach the Glory.
Glory chief executive Jason Brewer said Edwards was not willing to cooperate with a series of measures the clubs’ board had endorsed to address issues between players and coaches.
The situation was further fueled when Edwards had a dispute with Glory captain Jacob Burns last week who blew up after being left on the bench in favour of Edwards’ sons, Ryan and Cameron. Edwards would not agree to any reconciliation with Burns and it is understood he demanded the club sack the captain.
Brewer says it’s disappointing Edwards and the club had differing views on the way forward and he was given the task by the board to investigate the dispute. Brewer said “Unfortunately after two days of discussions with the head coach we weren’t able to reach agreement”.
He added that the club has already begun the search for a new coach and expects to announce an interim coach very quickly.
