Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou has signed a new contract with the club keeping him in Piraeus until the summer of 2017. It is reported that Olympiakos has offered Mitroglou a contact worth up to 1.5 million euros per annum, which will make him the most expensive player in the football history of Greece.
As a result of a clause in the new contract, clubs wishing to sign Mitroglou would first have to negotiate the transfer fee with Olympiakos. Recent reports have suggested that English Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal were particularly interested in the Olympiakos “hitman”.
