A spat with department store David Jones has put aside as designer Alex Perry announced he’ll be partnering with rival Myer.
The designer has made no secret that he was not happy with David Jones, who announced in December its sales of Perry’s line were down 10 per cent.
David Jones has said with lowering sales, and their disapproval of Perry’s commercials for the line, they saw it “didn’t warrant the space taken in stores”.
In last year’s Australian Fashion Week runways, Alex Perry showcased a new look design, targeting a younger crowd with a more youthful ready-to-wear line.
Despite lower than expected sales in at David Jones’ stores, the new lines saw big demand overseas and sales boomed. He has picked up 40 new stockists in Europe and his fashion has been seen on numerous red carpets around the world.
Myer will start stocking Perry’s lines in August ahead of their spring-summer collections, and are happy to have the designer back on their books after he left in 2007.
They will also be using Perry heavily in their spring racing promotions alongside Myer ambassador, Jennifer Hawkins.
Perry will join fellow Greek Australian and friend, makeup artist Napoleon Perdis at Myer. The two are known for collaborating at runways, with Perry fitting models and Perdis doing their make up.
