Terry Antonis’ goal for Sydney FC’s youth team was enough to clinch the club the National Youth League title with three matches to go.
After battling injury, Antonis proved he’s back in shape and nabbed the team’s first goal in their hard earned 2-1 win against Brisbane Roar.
He set up the second goal just minutes after his early opener, cutting through Roar’s defence and giving Mitch Mallia a clean strike.
Fellow Greek Australian teammate, goalkeeper Anthony Bouzanis was integral at keeping the score towards the club’s favour, saving a couple of well hit balls from a talented Roar side.
Samuel Sibatuara didn’t give Sydney FC their clean win, and managed to shoot through a goal in the 57th minute, opening the play again.
But, Sydney FC were the clear winners, and did more than enough to close the season early. The FFA head of high performance Luke Casserly and Young Socceroos coach Paul Okon were on hand after the game to give the ecstatic players their trophy and medals.
The team sits on 40 points, with 10 points separating them from second on the ladder, Newcastle Jets.
