Many Greek Australian business owners and residents of Brunswick will be left without phone and internet services if they don’t switch their lines to the National Broadband Network by May.
Analogue internet and phone services will begin to be shut down from May 23 when the company in charge of the roll-out, NBN Co, decommissions Telstra’s copper network.
The first switch-off will occur in 15 towns and suburbs across Australia that have had the NBN’s fibre cables in place for at least 18 months. About 2,800 premises in Brunswick and 2200 in South Morang will be among those affected.
Many Greek Australian business owners and residents in Brunswick say they’ve only just been told of the move or haven’t been contacted at all.
