West Adelaide Hellas have lost their senior coach, Ross Aloisi, who managed to resurrect the club and see them upgraded to the SA NPL in just two years.

The coach will leave West Adelaide to take on the head position for Women’s Football at the FFSA.

His move, although sad for the club, was fully endorsed with president Alex Alexandrou saying the club wouldn’t stand in the way of a fantastic opportunity for Aloisi.

The club quickly announced former Socceroo Joel Porter as the senior team’s new coach, and will be taking the reigns immediately to make sure the team is in good stead to keep the winning streak going.

Currently, the team is sitting on top of the SA NPL ladder with five wins and two draws, and managed an undefeated season last year.

Porter comes from a well established coaching and playing background, having been the assistant coach for West Adelaide since 2013 and coached Gold Coast United after playing for them from 2009.

He has four caps for Australia, scoring five goals and has been the top goal scorer for Hartlepool United.

As for Aloisi, he leaves Hellas with a fantastic legacy, taking the club from the third tier to top of the NPL, winning back to back championships along the way.

His mark will be felt for years to come and Porter will most likely continue with Aloisi’s training regiment for the season.
