An outbreak of food poisoning following a set menu for Mother’s Day at Hellenic Republic Kew, is currently being investigated by the Department of Health and the local council.

The restaurant that is co-owned by MasterChef judge George Calombaris, is being investigated after the Boroondara Council received reports that at least two groups of the 600 diners on the day fell sick. The diners suffered from vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach cramps. The council has asked anyone who dined at the restaurant as part of the Mother’s Day set menu to seek medical attention and to contact the council.

Sample results were taken this week by inspectors with results pending.

Calombaris owns a 25 per cent stake in Made Establishment, which controls Hellenic Republic in Kew and Brunswick, along with The Press Club and Gazi in the CBD.
